As the Supreme Court is set to give its ruling on the petition seeking the disqualification of 16 Maharashtra legislators, including chief minister Eknath Shinde, who had parted ways from former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, leading to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, assembly speaker Rahul Narvekar said that the decision of the apex court will be given full respect.

Asked about his forthcoming official visit to London at a time when he is expected to play a major role in implementing the Supreme Court verdict, Narvekar said, “I am going only for 2-3 days and will be back soon.”

“The hearing on the case was completed in the Supreme Court and the judgement is expected. The judgement will be respected by all,” he told reporters after a function in Pune on Wednesday.

“The order of the highest court is respected by all and the same will take place in the case,” said Narvekar, “I have been performing my responsibilities as Speaker since I took over the charge. I will continue to do so.”
