A 40-year-old doctor from Kurla has filed a rape and cheating case against a 33-year-old Malad resident who, under the pretext of marrying the doctor, who is a divorcee, allegedly raped her.

The doctor also alleged that under the pretext of marrying her and accepting her daughter, the accused, identified as Avaiz Tazin Ahmed, 33, accepted Rs 1 crore and 35 tolas of gold from her, promising to return the same later. However, the man neither married the doctor nor returned her money and gold.

According to the FIR filed by the MIDC police station on Saturday, the alleged rape and cheating offence occurred between July 2022 and May 2024.

The complainant doctor first came into contact with Ahmed on Facebook. After gaining her trust, Ahmed proposed to marry her. He also promised to accept her daughter, who she had with her now-seperated husband.

Under the pretext of marrying the woman, the accused forcefully had a physical relationship with her, the doctor stated in her statement to the police.

Ahmed allegedly also took money worth Rs 1.01 crore from the complainant on different occasions, promising to return them later. He also took 35 tolas of ancestral gold ornaments of the complainant, the FIR states.

However, when the complainant asked him to marry her, he would ignore her.

The doctor later discovered that Ahmed was already married, a fact which he allegedly concealed from her all the whole time.
After repeated failed attempts, the woman realised that the accused had no intention of marrying her.

When she asked him to return her money and gold, the accused refused the same. He instead threatened to defame her by telling her relatives and friends about their relationship, the complainant alleged before the police.

After following up with the accused for nearly four months, hoping to get her money and valuables back, the complainant woman finally approached the police and filed a complaint. In her complaint to the police, she has also claimed that the accused has assaulted her.

The police booked Ahmed under sections 323 (assault), 376 (rape), 376(2)(n) (rape on multiple instances), 420 (cheating), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
