Critic and writer Dr DB Kulkarni has been elected president of the 83rd Marathi Sahitya Sammelan,to be organised in Pune from March 26-28.
The counting of votes was held at the Marathwada Sahitya Parishad office here on Saturday. Kulkarni won 350 votes,defeating dramatist Premanand Gajwi by 124 votes.
Born in Nagpur,Dr Dattatreay Bhikaji Kulkarni has authored around 36 books. Besides heading the post-graduate department of Marathi at Nagpur University,he had worked as lecturer at various colleges.
