The Mumbai police Monday announced that over 20,000 personnel will be deployed across the city on Tuesday, the final day of Ganesh idol immersion.
According to police, nine Additional Commissioners of Police, 40 Deputy Commissioners, and 56 Assistant Commissioners will be stationed at various Visarjan points, along with police inspectors and other officials, to maintain law and order.
“Ensuring the safety of women will be our top priority, which is why we have deployed officers in plain clothes and the Nirbhaya Squad.
In addition to 20,000 police personnel, around 10,000 SRPF personnel and 2,500 traffic officers will be involved in the bandobast,” an officer stated.
The police added that CCTV cameras have been installed at several locations, with the support of the BMC and a private company, to monitor crowds.
“Around 12 bridges on the Central and Western Railway lines in Mumbai have been declared dangerous by the authorities. We urge people to be cautious while using these bridges, or avoid them if possible,” the officer added.
