Co-operative housing societies to get online platform to file plaints

According to an official from the registrar's office in Mumbai, individuals filing complaints on the new platform will be required to pay a nominal fee of Rs 50 for each complaint.

Cooperative housing society members will soon get a platform to file complaints online as the Maharashtra cooperation department is set to launch a user-friendly website and mobile application called “Sahakar Samvad” by the end of this month.

According to an official from the registrar’s office in Mumbai, individuals filing complaints on the new platform will be required to pay a nominal fee of Rs 50 for each complaint.

The platform will options for 24 types of complaints commonly raised by housing society members that include share certificates, misappropriation or misapplication of funds, failure to conduct elections and failure to convene general body meetings among others.

At present, individuals seeking to file complaints in cooperative housing societies have to visit the registrar’s office in person. Complainants also reach out to various other offices, including the co-operation secretary and the minister’s office.

The new online platform is designed to streamline this process, allowing both complainants and officials to conveniently track the progress and status of each complaint, along with the actions taken in response, the official said.

The online facility is expected to benefit around 1,15,172 cooperative housing societies in Maharashtra.
