The Central Railway’s plan to introduce 10 local services from Dadar Station since August has been delayed due to constraints of fifth and sixth lines.
Currently, these services originate from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
A source in the Central Railway revealed that the plan was to use platform number 11 at Dadar for these 10 services. However, since the fifth and sixth lines extend only up to Kurla, trains would need to cross all tracks serving other platforms at Dadar to access platform number 11. This would potentially disrupt the punctuality of other trains.
Besides, the plan also delayed for want of approval, added the source.
The services from platform number 11 at Dadar station were expected to better serve commuters traveling to and from Dadar, offering a more convenient option compared to traveling from CSMT. At present, a few services already operate from platform number 11.
