The Anti Corruption Bureau of the Central Bureau of Investigation has booked a case of corruption against Railway Police Force (RPF) Inspector Amit Kumar Roy and RPF constable Rajesh Deshpande for taking a bribe of Rs 3,000.
According to CBI officials,Roy had found a few advertisements pasted on railway compartments with contact details of an electrician. Roy allegedly contacted the electrician and pointed that his advertisements violated Railway rules. Roy also told him that he would have to pay a penalty of Rs 2 lakh.
Roy then asked the electrician to pay a bribe of Rs 50,000. The amount after negotiation was brought down to Rs 10,000. However,on July 20,the electrician was detained by Roy and constable Deshpande after he failed to bring the amount.
They allegedly left him after he paid them Rs 1,000 and told the electrician to pay the remaining sum in installments. The electrician then approached the ACB wing of the CBI. The unit laid a trap on Wednesday when the complainant went to pay the duo and caught Roy and Deshpande.
