The Bombay High Court premises in the Fort area of South Mumbai were vacated on Friday afternoon after receiving a bomb scare. The Delhi High Court, too, received a similar threat.

The proceedings at the Bombay High Court came to a sudden halt as judges, including Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, abruptly rose from their chairs and left.

After the Bombay Bar Association (BBA) and Advocates Association of Western India (AAWI) requested their member advocates to vacate the premises owing to security concerns, the bomb detection unit and the dog squad were deployed at the court premises.

An officer from the Mumbai police said an evacuation was carried out based on a threat mail. Till this report was filed, there was no clarity whether the Bombay High Court received a separate mail or its name was included in the threat mail received by the Delhi High Court.

The Delhi High Court received a bomb threat email on Friday on the official email IDs of the registrar general and other officials.
