Body of woman found on beach

A woman was found dead on Danapani Beach on Saturday. The Malwani police have registered a case of murder.

A woman was found dead on Danapani Beach on Saturday. The Malwani police have registered a case of murder. The 48-year-old woman had been missing since Friday night.

Police said the deceased,identified as Gulabi Achai Chai,was strangulated. Chai was a resident of Kharodi village near Malvani and used to stay with her daughter. On Friday night,after Chai did not return home from her usual walk after dinner,her family filed a missing person’s complaint.

“Around 8.30am,locals spotted a woman’s body on the shore. We went there and identified the body. There were strangulation marks on neck,” an officer said.

Chai’s husband is a former chef at the Sea Rock Hotel,Bandra.

Preliminary probe revealed that Chai was wearing jewellery worth Rs 65,000,which was missing. “The body has been sent for post-mortem,” said VR Andhale,senior police inspector,Malwani police.
