Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi president Prakash Ambedkar on Tuesday claimed NCP minister Chhagan Bhujbal was released from jail because he had questioned the judiciary over keeping Bhujbal in jail.
Speaking to mediapersons in Mumbai, Ambedkar said, “I speak what is right. I don’t have to compete with anybody for vote bank or OBC leadership… When Bhujbal was in prison for two years nobody uttered a word. I spoke against the decision to keep him in prisons. I questioned the role of judges in his case. After my public attack, Bhujbal was released the next day.”
Unfortunately, Ambedkar added, Bhujbal has not thanked him.
The VBA leader also said, “Everybody knows I was the first to champion the cause of OBCs in Maharashtra.”
Ambedkar’s remarks came amid Bhujbal, an OBC leader, demanding a stay on the Kunbi certificates being given to Marathas.
The grandson of Dr B R Ambedkar warned of “orchestrated communal clashes” in Maharashtra after after the election results in five states — Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telengana and Mizoram — are declared.
“There is strong possibility of communal clashes between Hindus and Muslims or OBCs. These clashes will be orchestrated,” Ambedkar said.
All the police stations have been given advisory to remain alert and be prepared for any eventuality arising out of communal clashes, he added.
Earlier, on Sunday Ambedkar held a public rally at Shivaji Maharaj at Dadar in Mumbai where he had attacked the BJP and RSS for pushing a hidden agenda to change the Constitution.
