The Bank of Baroda (BoB) Sunday said in a notice it will conduct an e-auction of Sunny Deol’s bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu next month after the actor failed to repay a Rs 56 crore loan.
As per the notice issued in a newspaper, the bank will auction Sunny Villa, located at Gandhi Gram Road, to recover Rs 55.99 crore the actor owes the lender along with interest and cost from December 26 last year minus the recovery of the amount that has been made.
Issued by the Zonal Stressed Asset Recovery Branch of the lender, the notice said the auction would be held on September 25 and the bids can be submitted by September 22. It said the bungalow will be sold “as is what is” for recovery of the dues.
The notice to the general public said that Sunny Deol’s bungalow had been mortgaged to the bank, possession of which was taken by the authorised bank officer.
The properties mortgaged include all the pieces and parcels of land measuring 599.44 square metre underneath Sunny Villa. The guarantors of the loan included Ajay Singh Deol alias Sunny Deol and Vijay Singh Dharmendra Deol.
As per the advertisement, the reserve price of the property is Rs 51.43 crore, Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) to be deposited while bidding is Rs 5.14 crore. The property can be inspected on September 14 and the winner of the bid will initially be provided symbolic possession.
The notice was issued as per the statutory 30-day notice needed under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002.
Attempts to reach Sunny Deol to seek his comment by The Indian Express did not get any response.
This comes at the time when the Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2, the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, is said to be doing well at the box office.
