The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Friday termed the state government’s decision to allocate Rs 10 crore to Waqf Board for its digitisation for the financial year 2024-25 as “politics of appeasement”.
The minorities welfare department has released Rs 2 crore for Waqf Board in Aurangabad and assured them that remaining amount would be given subsequently.
Protesting the move, secretary of VHP’s Konkan region Mohan Salekar said, “Why is the state government bowing to Muslims. Why are they appeasing them. Such appeasement will not be tolerated.”
Following the protest from the VHP, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said Friday, “The funds allocated by the state government was for digitisation of the Waqf Board. The process was necessitated to fix the wrongs. It would help to identity the land which has been wrongly acquired from Hindus and tribals and backward classes.”
Bawankule further said that there was no question of BJP or the state government indulging in any appeasement of any community.
“All those accusing the state government should understand the purpose and facts,” he added.
Meanwhile, cabinet minister Mangalprabhat Lodha Friday demanded drive to deport illegal Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya migrants living in Mumbai. “They are not only involved in crime, drug peddling but also voted in 2024 Lok Sabha polls,” Lodha said referring to recent incident where the ATS arrested four Bangladeshi nationals who allegedly voted in recently concluded general elections.
