Ambedkar birth anniversary: RPI shifts venue to Gateway

Deviating from the tradition of celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at his memorial in Nagpur,the Republican Party of India will organise the celebrations at the Gateway of India in Mumbai on April 14.

Deviating from the tradition of celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at his memorial in Nagpur,the Republican Party of India (RPI) will organise the celebrations at the Gateway of India in Mumbai on April 14.

As part of the celebrations,a function to felicitate sportspersons has been organised by the party at the iconic South Mumbai location. RPI has invited cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as its guest of honour and will be felicitating several players.

Several state government functions are held at the Gateway of India. We have decided to hold a function at the same location, said RPI leader Arjun Dangle.

Meanwhile,the Republican Sena,led by Ambedkars grandson Anandraj,has decided to conduct a bhoomipujan at the Indu mill,the propsed site for Dr Ambedkars international memorial.
