The state government is taking care that the decision taken on reservation survives the test of law and not get scrapped, CM Eknath Shinde said after an all-party meeting on Maratha reservation on Monday night.
Shinde along with Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar addressed a press conference after the all party meeting where a resolution requesting Manoj Jarange-Patil — a protester in Jalna district on fast for the past 14 days demanding reservation for the community — to withdraw his fast.
“We conveyed our emotions to him through this resolution and said we are all worried about his health,” Shinde said.
“We requested him to give time to the Justice Shinde committee set up (about giving Kunbi certificate to Marathas) and have also agreed to include him or his representative in the committee. It was also agreed to suspend three officials responsible for lathicharge, expressing apology over the lathicharge incident,” he said.
An all-party meeting on Monday night decided to withdraw all the cases against the protesters during the Maratha reservation protest in Jalna district where police lathicharge took place at the site where Jarange-Patil is sitting on fast.
