Ajit Pawar-led NCP on Tuesday said it is yet to take a call on whether to hold a third meeting with party president Sharad Pawar, who has refused to extend support to his nephew after the latter, along with eight other MLAs, chose to join the Shinde-Sena BJP government.
“We met Sharad Pawar with our leaders Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel. Patel has informed all of you about what happened in the meeting. I don’t want to further comment on it. Whether we will meet him (Sharad Pawar) again or not has not yet been decided,” said Sunil Tatkare, state head of Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction.
Faced with angry MLAs who on Monday questioned Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other senior ministers over them meeting NCP president Sharad Pawar without taking others into confidence, the rebel NCP leaders met the veteran politician on a second consecutive day seeking his blessings and guidance to keep the party united.
Earlier, Tatkare said that to mark Ajit Pawar’s birthday, the party will be holding ‘Ajit Saptah’ (Ajit week) across the state, as part of which various social welfare activities have been planned.
