ONE person was killed and another hurt after a private bus ferrying employees of a Taloja-based petrochemicals company overturned in Dombivli Thursday.

The bus driver Sharan Lanjar,who is absconding,was booked for rash and negligent driving.

Manpada police said accident took place around 8.30 am at Shil Phata. The bus,which ferries employees of IG Petrochemicals,Taloja MIDC,had picked up four employees from their Kalyan residences and was on its way to the company.

“Lanjar was driving at high speed and lost control over the vehicle. Its hit the divider and overturned,” said a police officer.

Lanjar allegedly fled and motorists took the four victims as well as the bus cleaner to Rukmini Bai Hospital,Kalyan.

One of the victims,Unnikrishnan Menon (55),was declared dead before admission. Rajesh Pawar (44) suffered eye injuries.

The police are on the lookout for Lanjar,a resident of Sonarpada in Dombivli.
