1 dead,one injured in separate accidents

The car collided with a taxi coming from the opposite direction,injuring taxi driver,Suresh Nandlal Yadav (37),and his passenger Gnyandev Jaisingh Breed.

Dhanvat said Yadav has been admitted to J J Hospital while Breed is being treated at St. George Hospital. Yadav’s taxi was heading towards the J J Hospital.

Dhanvat said the police investigations are still on in order to verify the exact cause of the accident and charges would be framed soon.

Meanwhile,two hours before the JJ Flyover accident,a man died after the two-wheeler he was on was hit by a tanker near near the Reay Road bridge in Byculla.

Shahnawaz Ansari,was riding pillion on an Activa scooter when the driver of the tanker allegedly lost control and hit the two-wheeler,which was being ridden by Saleem Sayed. Sayed suffered minor injuries in the accident and the driver fled from the spot,the police said.

Ansari and Sayed were on their way back to office from the Reay Road railway station. The duo worked in Mazgaon.

Police said the accident took place when the driver of the tanker tried to overtake the scooter.

The driver lost control and rammed into the side of the scooter,the impact of which caused Sayed to lose his balance,said the police. Ansari was crushed under the tanker and died at the spot.

Ansari,a resident of Madanpura,is survived by his parents and three siblings. His body was sent to the J J Hospital for a post-mortem.

“We have booked the driver for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The tanker has been seized and we are trying to trace the driver,” said the police.
