PPCB holds painting contest on environment

A total of 39 government and private schools of Ludhiana participated in the competition.

The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on Tuesday organised a district-level painting competition at BCM Senior Secondary School,Sector 32,Ludhiana,on the topic of “Think-Eat-Save”. A total of 39 government and private schools of Ludhiana participated in the competition.

Environmental engineer G S Gill elaborated on this year’s World Environment Day theme of “Think-Eat-Save” and said at least one third of everything we grow on this planet is lost between the field and the consumer. And by eliminating food loss and waste,we would have sufficient food to feed the estimated 870 million undernourished people in the world without having to increase food production and putting additional pressure on our natural resources.
