A team of the West Bengal CID cops reached Ludhiana late on Sunday and started interrogation of seven gang members arrested by the Ludhiana police a few days back.
The Ludhiana cops suspected Mohammad Salim and Habibul — two of seven gang members — were involved in the gangrape and on Monday it was confirmed that the cellphone recovered from the accused was present during the gangrape.

The seven gang members — accused of dacoity and fraud in cases registered in Ludhiana and Bengal — are in police remand till Tuesday with the Ludhiana police.
Now Bengal police will be getting their production warrants and may ferry them to Bengal for further interrogation in the nun gangrape case.
Speaking to Newsline, Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner of Police Naveen Singla said, “The Bengal team is here and now they will carry on with their investigation in the nun gangrape case. As far as Ludhiana connection is concerned, we have booked seven accused for dacoity and illegal immigration under Passport Act. Only Bengal police will now confirm their roles in the nun’s gangrape.”
He added, “We recovered a cellphone from the gang members and it has been found that it was present at the spot during the nun’s gangrape. Further details can only be furnished by Bengal team now as they are prime investigators in the case.”
