Harassed on phone, 19-yr-old consumes toilet cleaner; caller booked

The girl said the accused threatened to throw acid on her face

Harassed on phone by an unidentified caller, a 19-year-old girl tried to commit suicide by consuming toilet cleaner on Friday.

However, the girl was saved. Daba police booked the unidentified caller for threatening her over phone under Section 506 of the IPC and 66-A of Information Technology Act.

Police is also getting information from the telecom service provider about the owner of the phone.

In her complaint, the girl said that she was getting phone calls and messages from an unknown mobile phone number for past few days. The accused used abusive language. When she stopped taking calls the accused started sending text messages.

The girl said the accused forced her into a relationships with him. When she refused, the accused threatened to throw acid on her face.

Inspector Sarabjit Singh said the case is being investigated and the accused will be arrested soon.
