ETT teachers burn panchayat minister’s effigy

ETT Adhyapak Union held a district-level convention at the Embassy Palace on Sunday to protest against the state government’s decision not to bring back Zila Parishad and Nagar Councils schools under the purview of the state Education department.

ETT Adhyapak Union held a district-level convention at the Embassy Palace on Sunday to protest against the state government’s decision not to bring back Zila Parishad and Nagar Councils schools under the purview of the state Education department. Jaswinder Singh Sidhu,State president of the ETT Adhyapak Union,said,“We demand that the 5752 government schools which are running under Zila panchayats and Nagar Councils should be brought back under the Education department. This was our 14th convention of protest and the government has not fulfilled its promise till date.”

The agitated ETT teachers which included a large number of women teachers,who blocked the traffic at the Bhaiwala Chowk and burnt the effigy of Ranjeet Singh Brahampura,Panchayat Minister. The state-level convention of the union will be held on August 8 at Jalandhar,said the state president.
