No DJs after 10 pm,orders ADC

Ludhiana: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Pardeep Aggarwal today held a meeting with the PPCB officials on the issue of noise pollution. The ADC(D) ordered that DJs in marriage palaces and parties will not be allowed to operate after 10 pm. The PPCB officials revealed that in the past few months,more than 250 challans have been issued to marriage palaces for creating noise pollution.

Health dept conducts raids at sweets shops

Ludhiana: The Health department continued its raids to check adulteration of sweets. The department sealed two godowns of Arora Sweets in Lakkar Bazar and took samples which were sent for testing. The report will be out in 48 hours. The team was raiding a few more shops in Lakkar Bazar.

Workshop for chartered accountants

Ludhiana: The Institute of Charted Accountants of India organised a workshop on ‘Capacity Building through Information Management & Knowledge Management ‘ for Chartered Accountants here at ICAI Bhawan. The program commenced with the welcome address by Ludhiana Branch of Chartered Accountants Chairman Hukminder Sahi. Abhishek Bhardwaj from Hazel Infotech Ltd explained that Information and Knowledge Management in a Chartered Accountant’s office is imperative to increase efficiency. Easy creation and quick retrieval of documents is a challenge in any office of Chartered Accountants. Having handy illustrative checklists along with templates for frequently used correspondence can enable the members to work smarter as well as strengthen the documentation practice. He also gave live demonstration of following solutions on Information Management & Knowledge Management.

SCD College for Boys Iifts Nehru Trophy

Ludhiana: S C D Government College for Boys emerged as the winner of Nehru Trophy in the inter-college debate competition organised by the Nehru Sidhant Kender at Khalsa College for Women. However,the first prize was won by Rohit Kapoor of SCD Government College for Boys,second prize was won by Parminderbir Kaur (KCW) and Rumika Gulati of Pratap College of Education. As many as 13 Colleges with a team of two speakers each participated in the debate. The topic chosen for the debate was — “Materialism has hijacked the time tested values of Society”. Sarbarinder Kaur Grewal Manager,Khalsa College for Women,Ludhiana was the Chief Guest. The speakers presented their view on the topic confidently and fearlessly and displayed their oratory skills.

Awareness camp on psoriasis held

Ludhiana: On the eve of World Psoriasis Day,Department of Skin and Cosmetology SPS Apollo Hospitals organised a special educational awareness camp for the psoriasis patients and their families. The experts said that psoriasis is not contagious and it can be well controlled. Psoriasis affects almost 2 per cent of the population. According to Dr Jastinder K Gill,Cosmetologist and Dermatologist ,”Psoriasis is quite a distressing skin problem,though it does not affect any of our internal systems like the liver,kidneys or the heart but it has a major psychological impact on the person. It brings down the confidence level,leaving the family and the patient emotionally drained. It can manifest at any age,seen both in men and women but more common amongst men; it is also occasionally seen in children with a genetic predisposition.”
