Assault on cop: 3 PAU students held

Police have arrested three post-graduate students of Punjab Agricultural University for assaulting a police officer.

Police have arrested three post-graduate students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for assaulting a police officer. They are Manjot Singh,Gurlab Singh and Opinder Singh,all booked under Sections 307,353 and 333 of the IPC.

Deputy Superintendent of Police P S Pannu said: “Kotwali SHO Nirmal Singh was on duty near the Jagaron bridge when the police party saw three drunk boys riding on a motorcycle. On seeing the police,they tried to run away.” The SHO tried to stop them and was apparently hit by the boys. He was left with a broken leg and suffered head injuries and is currently under treatment at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
