2 arrested for stealing 55 batteries

The accused tried to flee but failed as their car rammed into a divider.

The Shimlapuri police arrested a shopkeeper and his partner for stealing 55 batteries from Jaswinder Electricals in Simlapuri on Monday.

The accused tried to flee but failed as their car rammed into a divider.

The accused have been identified as Vishal Kumar,30,of Sangrur and Baljit Singh alias Bhinda,28,of Hoshiarpur. Kumar runs a battery shop in Sherpur area.

Salem Tabri SHO Jaswinder Singh said the police put up a naka at Canal Bridge on Gill road and were checking the vehicles. When the police asked the accused who were passing through the road to stop for checking,they took their car towards the Gill road. The police gave them a chase. The accused lost control of the car and their car rammed into the divider near Arora Palace Cinema. The police nabbed the duo.
