Two drown in Gomti as boat capsizes

A youth and a child drowned in Gomti river in Hasanganj area of Lucknow Monday morning after the boat on which they had gone fishing capsized.

A youth and a child drowned in Gomti river in Hasanganj area of Lucknow Monday morning after the boat on which they had gone fishing capsized.

Police said a group of six persons,all residents of Khadra area,had gone in the boat to catch fish around 11 am. However,after it has travelled some distance into the river,the boat started to sink because of some holes in it. It turned on one side,making all the persons fall into water,police said.

Senior Sub-Inspector Vijay Shankar Yadav said four of them – Mohammed Ahmed,Wasim Ahmed,Liyaqat Ahmed and Mohan swam to safety but two others Mohammed Haseeb (4),and Mohammed Imran (20) – drowned.
