SO murder case: Stolen car found abandoned in Satna

The looted car in which the assailants had escaped after killing the Station Officer of Bara police station

The looted car in which the assailants had escaped after killing the Station Officer of Bara police station,Rajendra Prasad Dwivedi,on June 14 has been found abandoned in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. A police team from here has gone to Satna and is in the process of bringing it back.

The information about the abandoned car, matching the specifications with the looted car,was given by Satna police late on Tuesday night. A police team from Allahabad left early this morning and following preliminary examination established that it was indeed the same car.

Allahabad Range DIG Dr N Ravinder, said: “The car was abandoned by the assailants in Amar Patan area of Satna district. Both the number plates of the car had been removed by the assailants. No recoveries were made from the car. However, forensic examination will be carried out to find clues about the culprits.”

The criminals had put registration number plates of different vehicles in the front and rear of the car at the time of the incident. Investigations later revealed that one of the registration numbers belonged to a vehicle that was seized by the Kydganj police last year.

Asked if the criminals have been identified,Dr Ravinder said: “We can say that they have been identified.” However, their names have not been divulged yet. Sources said that a couple of criminals, who were among the 10 undertrials who escaped from a prison van of Naini Central Jail on April 8,could be involved in the incident.

Dwivedi was killed when he had intercepted the looted car on Allahabad-Chitrakoot road on June 14 around 11.45 a.m. The car had earlier been looted on May 30 under the Bara police station area.

On the fateful day,Dwivedi was trying to track down the car after he got information that it was spotted at a petrol pump in Shivrajpur under the Shankergarh police station area. He intercepted the car nearly a kilometre from the petrol pump and grappled with the assailants before he was shot dead.
