The Maytas Infra Limited, the company whose two workers were asphyxiated to death and the third injured while cleaning a sewer in the citys cantonment area on Saturday, promised to give Rs 4 lakh to the kin of each dead person and Rs 70 thousand to the injured person, but the company has not provided the name of the supervisor who had allegedly asked the labourers to clean the sewer without safety gears.
Assistant general manager (HR) Vinod Kumar Singh of Maytas on Monday gave the written agreement to the victims family members, promising to give the money to them. But the name of the accused and unidentified supervisor against whom an FIR has been lodged at Cantonment police station for causing death by negligence, was not given to the police.
According to family members of Dinesh and Babloo, who died in the sewer on Saturday, the duo had been working with Maytass Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) for more than five years. Babloos cousin Neeraj Rawat said the three worked on daily basis with the company.
SSI Shivaji Singh, who is investigating the case, said the police is still trying to identify the supervisor as the company has not provided the name to the police.
