Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed that the police’s Anti-Romeo squads should become more active across all districts of the state, saying the “safety of women and daughters remained a top priority” of the government.

During a review meeting on law and order ahead of the upcoming festival season, flood relief preparations and dengue prevention measures through video conferencing with divisional commissioners, district magistrates, police chiefs, and senior officers, the CM announced to launch a new phase of Mission Shakti during Sharadiya Navratri, a press statement quoted him saying.

He also underlined that negligence in resolving public complaints will not be tolerated, and that every complaint received through the IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) and the CM Helpline must be addressed satisfactorily from the complainant’s perspective.

“Public interest is paramount and the government is fully accountable to the people. The complainant’s satisfaction and feedback will be the true benchmark of an officer’s performance,” the Chief Minister said.

At the meeting, he released rankings on the disposal of IGRS and CM Helpline complaints from divisions, districts, tehsils, zones, ranges, and local police stations.

He instructed the officers to ensure grievance redressal with sensitivity and respect for victims’ sentiments, warning that disciplinary action will follow against those filing false or misleading reports.

The CM also expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of festivals recently, and directed the police and administration to remain on high alert for Barawafat, Anant Chaturdashi and Vishwakarma Puja.

Reviewing the flood-hit districts, he called for making relief operations more effective under the guidance of public representatives. He instructed the municipal bodies to clear waterlogging quickly, strengthen cleanliness drives, and take preventive steps against seasonal diseases. He asked for holding of Jan Arogya Melas on a regular basis and availability of medicines for treating snakebite cases at all health centres.

Expressing concern over fake and substandard medicines, he ordered zero tolerance, constant vigilance, and strict monitoring, saying such malpractices will not be allowed in the state.

The CM stressed that no farmer should face fertiliser shortage in the kharif season and ordered close monitoring of the supply chain and strict action against hoarding or black marketing, the press release stated.

The chief minister also reviewed arrangements for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) scheduled on September 6 and 7, where 25.31 lakh candidates will appear at 1,479 centres across 48 districts.

He directed that transparency of examination be ensured at all cost, with strict confidentiality of question papers, deployment of sector magistrates, live CCTV monitoring, improved city traffic management, and special arrangements for candidates in view of the rainy season.

The chief minister also instructed the officials to take strict action against rumour-mongers during the exams and coordinate with the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) to provide all necessary facilities to candidates.
