THE TWO-DAY UP Police constable recruitment examination, held statewide, concluded on Sunday without any significant law and order issues, even as large crowds were witnessed at railway stations. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board had organised the examination.

When contacted, ADG (Law and Order), Amitabh Yash, said on Monday that police teams remained on high alert to ensure the examination was conducted in a “fair manner”. He added that the examination was conducted “peacefully and successfully.” Meanwhile, over the past four days, the police arrested a total of 224 persons over allegations of “fraudulent activities” during the state police constable recruitment examination.

Photographs circulating on social media platforms showed packed railway stations in several districts, revealing large crowds of hopeful candidates awaiting trains. Videos and images captured aspirants eagerly waiting at the railway stations to catch their trains. Candidates from different parts of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states appeared in the examination that was held on February 17 and 18.

The crowded railway platforms inconvenienced other passengers who were boarding trains, especially women and children, with many saying they found it tough to reach their designated platforms. However, apart from the Lucknow railway station, where a massive crowd led to confusion, there were no reports of untoward incidents from any other railway station. The situation at the Lucknow railway station was promptly managed by the police team, officials said
on Monday.
