The anti-corruption branch of CBI Wednesday conducted surprise searches at six dispensaries and at the additional directors office of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) in Lucknow,the regional passport office (RPO),Bareilly,and Mumbai-bound Godan Express in Jaunpur.
The process of examination of the documents is going on,a CBI official confirmed.
The official said the CBI found serious irregularities in purchase of medicines and other goods at CGHS and also in the supply and distribution of medicines at the six dispensaries. The agency also found documents related to the alleged irregularities done by CGHS officials in the tendering and procurement of medicines from Chandan Healthcare Ltd in September 2011.
In Bareilly,the official said,the CBI,at the RPO and the Passport Sewa Kendra,found that touts extorted money from applicants to expedite the passport procurement process. The CBI team discovered exchange of phone calls between a tout Mukesh Sharma and RPO clerks Narendra and Alim Hussain.
Meanwhile,on the Mumbai-bound Godan Express,the CBI team arrested a tout Aslam Khan carrying two tatkal tickets in the name of others. Khan also revealed information about a group of touts belonging to eastern UP.
