A Rampur court on Thursday convicted 24 officials of Uttar Pradesh Police, Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) and CRPF for supplying arms and ammunition to terrorists and Maoists in connection with a case registered in 2010 and would pronounce the quantum of punishment on Friday. One of the accused died during the trial that lasted for more than a decade.

Rampur Additional District Government Counsel (Criminal) Pratap Singh Maurya said, “…A probe team was formed which had on April 29, 2010 visited Rampur and arrested three persons—Yashodhanand, Vinoj Paswan and Vinesh Kumar. An FIR was filed and the accused remanded in judicial custody. Upon identification by Yashodhanand, one Nathiram Saini was arrested from Moradabad.” Officials said a total of 25 people were booked in the case. “Yashodhanand had provided a diary with names of accused persons and details of bank accounts.
