A 10-YEAR-OLD boy was allegedly thrashed by Trinamool Congress supporters after he “tore posters of the TMC candidate” to make a kite at Canning in South-24 Parganas, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night. Circle Inspector Sisir Kumar Mitra said: “The boy had seemingly torn some posters and afterwards he was beaten up… Six persons have been named in a complaint lodged by his family.”

In the complaint, the boy’s family has claimed that the men had gagged him, tied his legs and then “threw him away”. The family has blamed Trinamool supporters for the incident as the posters that the boy had torn were of party nominee from Canning East, Saokat Molla. The ruling party, however, has denied the charges.
