Undertrial’s death at Presidency Jail: High Court seeks medical record

The Calcutta High Court Friday asked the state counsel to produce the medical records of Jahangir,an undertrial prisoner who was allegedly killed in Presidency jail in September 2008.

The Calcutta High Court Friday asked the state counsel to produce the medical records of Jahangir,an undertrial prisoner who was allegedly killed in Presidency jail in September 2008. Advocate Raghunath Bhattacharya,counsel of the APDR,a human rights organisation,said Jahangir was beaten up by the inmates and jail staff was shifted to the jail hospital. He was then taken to M R Bangur hospital and he died at SSKM hospital on September 19,2008.
