An early morning accident killed two sub-inspectors (S-Is) and injured four, including three policemen,on Monday. The incident took place at 3.15 am when the six were returning to Tangra police station after dinner at a restaurant on Sarat Bose Road. Their vehicle,a Maruti Swift, rammed into a stationary tanker at 48 Park Street.
Prabal Roy,S-I,Tangra PS was driving the car while Dhana Pati Ghosh,an officer with the anti-rowdy section of Lalbazar, posted in Tangra PS,sat beside him. Both died on the spot.
