The Left Front ally,Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) is in a fix with its top two leaders not wanting to contest the Assembly elections in 2011.

Acting secretary of the RSP and state PWD Minister Kshiti Goswami and Minister for Jails and Social Welfare Biswanath Choudhuri have already informed the party about their thoughts, sources said.

While Choudhuri toldthe party that a young candidate should be chosen for his Balurghat constituency,Goswami told his close associates that he wants to pay more attention to party affairs. Party sources, however, said the leaders are actually apprehensive about their fate in the Assembly polls.

For Goswami, problem began immediately after delimitation of the constituencies — when his constituency,Dhakuria, was virtually merged with Kasba. Since then the

RSP has been insisting for a new constituency for Goswami. Goswami, however, does not want to contest from a new constituency.

“My constituency has been delimited. It is very difficult for me to contest from a new constituency but I have left the decision to the party,” said Goswami. Choudhuri refused to comment on the issue.
