Though the rains let up a little in Kolkata, districts like North and South 24-Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Burdwan, Hooghly and East and West Midnapore, continued to receive heavy rains during the day with the rivers being in spate.

Water had to be released from several reservoirs like Kangsabati, Tilpara,Maithon, Panchet and Massenjore to avert overflowing.

In some districts, roads continued to be under water and train services were irregular. The aftermath of cyclone Komen — which had made landfall in Bangladesh — however, was not as virulent as it was thought to be. Still, several districts were experiencing rains because of its impact.
