A day after the incident at West Midnapore town, where Trinamool Congress workers and journalists were beaten up after two alleged Maoists were arrested from a shelter camp of the party,Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee today lambasted the state police saying that they are trying to stage the entire incident, which was entirely pre-planned.
Narrating the incident,Banerjee said that when women protested during the police raids yesterday as no female personnel were present they were beaten up along with the men.
If two Maoists had been arrested, then why the police did not tell the mediapersons waiting outside the guest house, and why did they beat them up? The entire operation was pre-planned and so they wanted to resist the entry of media, the Trinamool chief alleged.
Raising the issue of CRPF personnel being involved in the operation,Banerjee alleged that though officially CRPF was not part of the operation, personnel wearing CRPF uniforms were seen at the spot. After I asked them, the Union Home Ministry clarified that as per their knowledge CRPF was not present there. But then how come we have video footage of people wearing CRPF uniform beating up others? Then these were men sent by the state government? The matter should be properly investigated, she said.
Banerjee said that it has been found that DSP (Operations) Anish Sarkar, who was at the helm of yesterdays operation at Midnapore, was associated with the SFI during his student days.
In 35 years Left has converted Bengal into Maoist maternity home. Maoists are plaguing Bengal due to the prolonged negligence of the CPM,and nobody else, Banerjee added.
