With the prospect of his arrest looming large,Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh recorded his statement on video and kept it in safe custody with the instruction that should he be taken into custody, the tape be sent to TV channels for telecast.
Ghosh, who is now in Delhi and has been summoned by the CID for the fourth time on Thursday for questioning, told The Indian Express over phone,I fear arrest. I want to expose all who want to frame me. I have said everything and the video is in safe hands. I have left instructions that if I am taken by the CID,the video be aired.
Earlier in an interview with The Indian Express, the young MP had said he also feared for his life.
Earlier last week, after a grilling session at Bidhannagar Police commissionarate,Ghosh said he would like to address a press conference if he was taken into custody.
Ghosh, the CEO of one of the media companies of Sharada Group and an MP,first invited the wrath of the party leadership when last week he took part in a blood donation camp at Amherst Street in north Calcutta, along with MPs Somen Mitra,Tapas Paul and Shatabdi Roy and criticised the party. Shikha Mitra, rebel TMC MLA and wife of Somen, was also there.
The party sent showcause notices to Roy,Paul and Ghosh following the incident and took serious umbrage at Ghoshs outburst.
Ghosh, once Mamatas blue-eyed boy,was about to be expelled from the party. However, expulsion did not mean he would lose his Rajya Sabha seat and hence the party asked him to resign from the seat, which Ghosh resisted.
Ghosh has already said there are several beneficiaries in the government who got money from Sudipta Sen,the Sharada Group chairman. He said one of the leaders who have demanded his resignation from the party got Rs 4 crore from Sen.
Speculation is rife that Ghosh may be arrested Thursday and that is why the MP recorded his statement.
Party MPs are baying for his blood. Shubendu Adhikary,TMC MP from Tamluk said,Noone has done as much damage to the party as him. He has become a menace for TMC, Adhikary told The Indian Express. Mukul Roy,party general secretary, said disciplinary proceedings had been initiated against the TMC MP.
