As per the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Kolkata police, Singh and four others have been booked under sections of the Arms Act, the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Singh’s arrest follows the arrests of four others, including his son, Shivam, and close associates Vijayprasad Dhanuk, Santoshkumar Rajbhar, and Dibyendu Samanta.
The vandalism occurred on Friday morning when a group of individuals allegedly led by Singh entered the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee office, carrying BJP flags. They allegedly vandalised the office, set fire to pictures of Congress leaders, and burned party flags. No one was present in the office at the time.
An FIR was filed against Singh on Friday at the Entally police station under various sections, including the Arms Act. BJP leader Pratik Pandey was also implicated in the case.
The vandalism is believed to be in retaliation for an incident that took place on August 27 in Darbhanga, Bihar, where a man made objectionable comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother from a Congress stage during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra’.

Following the vandalism, the police had launched a manhunt for Singh, conducting raids at various locations, including his residence. Despite being on the run, Singh was active on social media, where he criticised the police for arresting his son and harassing his family.
Upon his arrest, Singh was heard shouting “Narendra Modi Zindabad” as he was taken to the police van. A senior police official stated that Singh was arrested from a flat in PS Marvella in Tangra, and he said that he was “not afraid of anyone”.
