HC seeks reply from RVNL on filling up of water bodies

RVNL,which started work in 2011-2012,has filled up several water bodies thereby affecting the ecological balance of the area,the petition alleged .

Calcutta High Court Wednesday directed Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to file an affidavit in two weeks regarding filling up of water bodies near New Garia Metro station for the ongoing metro project connecting New Garia and Dum Dum airport.

The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice A K Banerjee sought to know if RVNL had prepared a plan to restore water bodies after the completion of the project.
