The Calcutta High Court Tuesday directed that the Haldia Dental Medical College could admit students for the 2013-14 session,but it would depend on the outcome of the present petition pending before it.
Justice Aniruddha Bose directed the college to admit students,but asked its authorities to inform candidates that admission would depend on outcome of the case on permission to run the dental college. The college authorities were also directed to state in an advertisement that it would refund admission fees if the case was lost and permission was not granted.
A petition was filed in the high court stating that a dental college and a medical college were being run from the same building and that it would hamper the education of students. The counsel for the college submitted that a new building has been erected for the dental college.
The Medical Council of India which was directed by the court to inspect the premises at the port town of Haldia,about 200 km from here,submitted orally Tuesday that a new building had come up in the campus.
