Two CPM men were killed in Jibantala in Canning,South 24 Parganas,late on Wednesday evening,adding to the post-poll violence toll.
According to a senior police official,Kanak Giri and Jagannath Gayen died on the spot as crude bombs went off at a house under Jibantala police station area.
Sujan Chakraborty,CPM district secretary,said,Both our workers were killed by bombs. Their bodies were mutilated. The election results are yet to be declared,but Trinamool men have started spreading terror in the area. We have informed the police and administration about our apprehension.
Police have been deployed as tension escalated in the area. L N Meena,SP,South 24 Parganas,said,The bodies were sent for an autopsy. Investigation is on.
