A magnificent Marwari stallion named Shahbaz, owned by Veer Stud Farm in Punjab, has become the star attraction at the ongoing international Pushkar Cattle Fair in Ajmer, Rajasthan.

The striking black stallion, tall, muscular and commanding in presence, has captured the imagination of visitors and horse lovers alike. Owing to its flawless build, glossy coat, and pure lineage, owner Gurpartap Singh Gill claims Shahbaz’s estimated value stands at Rs 15 crore, making it one of the most talked-about horses at the fair this year.

Gill said he brings his horses from his farm in the Padiala village near Kharar in the SAS Nagar district to the Pushkar fair every year.

“This time, we have brought 40 animals, and Shahbaz is undoubtedly the most special one,” he said.

The 2.5-year-old stallion has won five major show titles so far. “Last year, Shahbaz bagged first place in three major competitions in Punjab and second place in one. Wherever he goes, he never returns without a trophy,” Gill said with pride.

Standing at 66 inches (over 5.5 feet), Shahbaz is cared for around the clock by a dedicated handler. His monthly feed costs about Rs 50,000 and comprises a mix of grains, dry fruits and supplements. The prized stallion has already made his mark at several national-level shows, and his breeding demand remains consistently high. Each breeding session costs around Rs 2 lakh, Gill added.

While Shahbaz has fetched offers as high as Rs 9 crore, Gill says he has no plans to sell the horse yet.

“The base price is Rs 15 crore, but I will only consider selling once Shahbaz’s next generation is ready,” Gill said.

“As of now, Shahbaz is the pride of our stable. Until his next lineage is strong enough to carry his legacy forward, selling him isn’t an option,” Gill added.
