Eight days after the suicide of their nine-year-old at a private school in Jaipur, her parents have accused the school of cover-up and have appealed to other parents for support.
In a video, the parents have accused the school of negligence.
“Neither the government nor the Opposition is supporting us. I appeal to every mother who sends her child to school and hopes that he/she will return home safely. The school is very powerful, a very big school, and I’m alone in this fight,” the mother says in the video.
The student allegedly jumped to her death from the fourth floor of the school on November 1, prompting a probe into allegations of harassment and bullying.
After a probe team sent to the Jaipur school was reportedly denied entry, Minister Madan Dilawar promised action.
The victim’s family allege that the student faced harassment and bullying in school and that complaints to the management fell on deaf ears.
They now seek a CBI investigation. “We feel that the police are not conducting the investigation with any seriousness. So, our demand will be that this should be investigated by the CBI, so that an inquiry can be conducted and our daughter is given justice,” he said in the video.
A senior police officer told The Indian Express that investigation is ongoing but no arrest has been made till now.
Calls and text messages to the administration of the school went unanswered.
