Four rickshaw-pullers and an auto driver were severely injured on Thursday after a 24-year-old woman rammed her car into their vehicles outside Karol Bagh Metro station,police said.
The woman,an MBA graduate who works for a private firm in Gurgaon,is a resident of Kirti Nagar. The incident took place around 7 am,when the woman was returning home after attending a wedding.
A senior police officer said,The roads were empty in the morning and the woman was speeding. She lost control of her car while trying to take a sharp turn near the Metro station and rammed the car into the rickshaws parked on the side of the road. Two of the rickshaw-pullers were asleep and did not see the car approaching,while the other two managed to escape with minor injuries. The auto driver,who had also parked his vehicle on the roadside,suffered multiple fractures.
The five were taken to a nearby hospital and their condition was said to be stable.
According to police,two of them were discharged this evening.
A passerby informed police and the woman was arrested from the spot. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against her and further investigations are on,police said.
