Gurgaon witnessed intermittent spells of rainfall throughout the day on Saturday, causing waterlogging and traffic congestion in some areas.
After a light drizzle in the morning and short spells of heavy rain by the afternoon, waterlogging was reported in the service lane near Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon highway, Rajiv Chowk, Galleria market, sectors 9, 9A, 21, 22, 23 and internal sector roads in Palam Vihar, Sushant Lok, South City-1 and internal sector roads.
According to data from the district administration, Gurgaon tehsil received 23 mm of rainfall from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday. As per the IMD, the city received 10.2 mm rainfall between 8 am on Friday and 8 am on Saturday.
Gurgaon Traffic police shared alerts on Twitter of traffic congestion on NH-48 near Khandsa and Galleria market roads, requesting commuters to plan their travel accordingly. Traffic police officials said that apart from a small stretch on the expressway, traffic movement remained smooth.
Ravinder Tomar, DCP (traffic) said, “There was slight congestion near Khandsa on the NH-48 because of rain. But overall traffic movement remained smooth. Traffic density was also considerably less because of the weekend.”
