Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announces plans to expand Delhi metro abroad, develop more MRTS at urban mobility conference in Gurgaon

The three-day conference, held under the theme “Easy Mode of Travelling”, aims to generate policy recommendations for urban development and public services. Highlighting that the initiatives will mark a new phase of development, the minister said the main objective is to provide easy travel in urban areas.

“DMIL will take metro networks beyond India. MRTS will strengthen interconnectivity and ensure safe, reliable transport with strict safety and cybersecurity standards. The academy will accelerate capacity building, and a Centre of Excellence will give new direction to metro services through innovative approaches”, he said.

Further, the minister said he would discuss with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini the establishment of a state-of-the-art convention centre in Gurgaon.

“Integrating transport networks will help make India a developed nation by 2047 under Make in India. India ranks third globally in metro coverage and will surpass the United States in three years. The Central government is adopting new technologies, and the conference will help implement future-ready solutions,” Lal added.

In September, the minister had said that the Delhi–Haryana–Rajasthan Rapid Rail corridor is set to get the green light from the Cabinet soon, referring to the part of the Delhi–Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor that stretches from Sarai Kale Khan to Shahjahanpur–Neemrana–Behror via Gurgaon, and extends for 106 km.

He had then also announced plans to provide 10,000 buses at concessional rates nationwide, with 450 allocated to Haryana, including 100 for Gurgaon.
