Terming them a reflection of the living bridge that exists between the United Kingdom and India, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called on students and staff at the British Council following his arrival in the Capital for the G20 Summit Friday.

Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty were received at the British Council’s cultural centre where they engaged with school teachers and students during an exhibition of their key education programmes.

“Before meeting the world leaders of today I’ve been meeting with the world leaders of tomorrow. It’s been fantastic to visit students and staff here at @inBritish (British Council in India) — a reflection of the living bridge that exists between the UK and India,” Sunak posted on X along with photos of his interaction.

According to sources aware of the specifics of the visit, Sunak interacted with students from the British Council in India and

British Council in India in a post said, “Honoured to welcome UK PM @RishiSunak and @anmurty to our Delhi cultural centre as part of their India visit for the #G20 Leaders’ Summit. They engaged with school teachers and students during an exhibition of our key education programmes.”

A British High Commission spokesperson said: “The Prime Minister and Mrs Murty met 63 children including participants on British Council education programmes. The programme participants on the British Council Premier League Primary Stars programme wear these jerseys and the students thought it would be nice to give one to the Prime Minister and Mrs Murty.”
