Elon Musk’s Tesla launched its swanky showroom in Gurgaon’s Sohna Road Thursday afternoon, with the facility set to offer a slew of services from retail, after-sales service, delivery to charging.
The event was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who assured full cooperation and assistance to the company. Stating that the occasion is a proud one for the state, he added, “You will never face any hindrance, there will be constant support, you march ahead. I fully believe Tesla will choose Haryana for its first electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the country, and become part of the motor investment hub that the city is becoming.”
Haryana Industries Minister and Badshahpur MLA Rao Narbir Singh said he hopes the launch will help bring down pollution. “A proposal is being prepared for up to 15% subsidy on EV cars that cost up to 40 lakh. Currently, Tesla cars, being priced higher, are not covered under it.”
Sharad Agarwal, General Manager, Tesla India, said the global electric vehicle player’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
“We are opening our first all-in-one Tesla Centre in Gurgaon — combining an experience centre, after-sales service, delivery, and charging station in one place. By building charging infrastructure that fits people’s daily lives, we are making electric driving convenient for everyone in India.”
“The network will expand rapidly for a seamless EV experience. Our direct business model has sparked huge excitement for electric mobility, driving strong adoption and lasting confidence in sustainable transport across India,” he added.
The company’s Optimus Gen 2 is now on display at the Gurgaon facility, as well at its Mumbai and Delhi centres, showcasing its progress in AI and robotic development. It is currently selling its Model Y range in Gurgaon.
“With Tesla Supercharging, Model Y can charge up to 275 km of range in just 15 minutes, equivalent to five round trips between Indira Gandhi International Airport and the Tesla Centre in Gurgaon. The ‘Plug In, Charge and Go’ charging experience, with 99.95% uptime, empowers Tesla owners to enjoy the freedom of travel and ease of charging without hassle,” Agarwal added.
Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt. Ltd. has leased a 33,475 sqft ground-floor space at the Orchid Business Park on Sohna Road, which houses a service centre, delivery hub, and retail outlet for Tesla’s customers in Delhi-NCR.
The lease was signed on July 28 for a nine-year period; it includes a three-year lock-in period.
The monthly rent is Rs 40.17 lakh (Rs 120 per sq ft) with a 4.75% annual hike. Tesla paid a stamp duty of Rs 20.69 lakh and a security deposit of Rs 2.41 crore, securing 51 dedicated parking slots.
Customers who place their order now can take delivery by year end, the company said in a media statement.
Delhi-NCR is also the only other metropolitan region apart from Mumbai where Tesla plans to install charging infrastructure.
The company plans to install four charging stations: one each in Saket and Aerocity in Delhi, one on Golf Course Road in Gurgaon, and another in Noida. These four charging stations are expected to feature 16 superchargers and 15 destination chargers, according to an earlier statement by Isabel Fan, senior regional director at Tesla.
