A firing incident in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi late Friday night left one man injured. According to the police, a call was received at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station at 10.08 pm reporting gunshots near the Monish Kada Hotel. Additional calls were received shortly after.
Upon reaching the spot, the police discovered that an altercation had taken place outside a shop named Qibla Perfumes, which is operated by three brothers: Furkan, 32, Waseem, 33, and Abdul Khalid, 30, all residents of Nizamuddin.
“At around 10 pm, a former tenant, Ehsaan, along with a few people, arrived at the spot and began quarrelling with Waseem. One of them was carrying a firearm and fired three shots. Furkan sustained a bullet injury in his leg. He was subsequently taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he is under treatment. Only one person sustained a bullet injury,” said Hemant Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East.
According to the police, the altercation occurred around 15 days after Ehsaan was asked to vacate his shop. The owner had subsequently rented the shop out to the three brothers for their perfume shop. However, the motive behind the shooting is still being investigated, they added.
During the inspection of the scene, the police seized three empty cartridges and two live rounds.
The accused individuals have been identified, and raids are currently underway to apprehend them, the police said. They have initiated legal proceedings in the matter, and further inquiries are in progress to establish the full sequence of events leading up to the firing.
